Day 1 | Arrival at Colombo (D)

Day 2 | Sinharaja Rain Forest (B, D)

Early morning Bird watching trail – Sinharaja Rain Forest is Home to over 25 endemic species and a myriad of others, Sinharaja is fondly referred to as a bird watcher’s paradise. Indulge in the sound silence of the leafy everglades, in wait for the prize, Blue Magpie or the Sri Lanka White Eye.

Rain forest walk – Take a trek through the quaint paths of Sinharaja where placid undergrowth lies in wait for the appreciation of all who wish to indulge in the tranquil wilderness of Sri Lanka’s world-renowned rainforest.

Day 3 | Sinharaja Rain Forest (B, D)

Trekking in the rain forest through the thick canopy of trees along with more adventurous jungle trails. This gives to you an unmatched opportunity to explore the dense forest. This trail leads you to two waterfalls, namely Kekuna Ella and Pathan Oya. Adventure seekers will be guided through the thick canopy of trees long more adventurous jungle trails. This gives to you an unmatched opportunity to explore the dense forest and visit Kekuna Ella waterfall and Pathan Oya Ella waterfall. You will get a chance to visit a village and be part of the village family for a moment. You will be amazed by their hospitality. This tour is more suited for adventure seekers.

Proper jungle clothing is appropriate because the torrential rain might be challenging sometimes. You will have to expect leeches but your guide will assist you in preparations.

You can have a bath in a cool shallow water pool down the Kekuna Ella Water Fall. You must be prepared with swimsuits.

The entire tour will take a maximum of 7 hours and you will be out of the jungle before sunset.

Day 4 | Sinharaja to Yala National Park (B, D)

The biodiversity of this park is immense: A total of 383 plant species have been recorded from the park, including 6 endemics and 7 species that are considered nationally threatened. It is also home to 32 different species of mammals, 5 of which are classified as threatened. The birdlife is also diverse. For keen bird-watchers, the complex wetland system harbors a rich bird life (approximately 197 species), including several species of migratory waterfowl. This has led to the declaration of the park as Sri Lanka’s first ‘Ramsar’ wetland – one of great international importance, especially for migratory waterfowl.

Day 5 | Full day Safari at Yala National Park (B, D)

Yala National Park, one of Sri Lanka’s premier eco-tourism destinations, lies 24km northeast of Tissamaharama and 305 km from Colombo on the southeast coast of Sri Lanka, spanning a vast 97,878 hectares over the Southern and Uva Provinces. The vegetation in the park comprises predominantly semi-arid thorny scrub, interspersed with pockets of fairly dense secondary forest. Small patches of mangrove vegetation also occur along the coastal lagoons.

Day 8 | Kithulgala – Makandawa Rainforest (B, D)

Bird watching in Kithulgala is considered as the main interest of a nature lover and can result in you seeing many of the country’s endemic bird species such as Sri Lanka Orange-billed babbler and chestnut-backed owlet, as well as reptiles such as green pit viper and earless lizard and a variety of butterflies

Day 9 | Kitulgala to Habarana (B, D)

Evening safari at Minneriya National Park

Located between Habarana and Polonnaruwa, the 8890 hectares of Minneriya National Park is an ideal eco-tourism location in Sri Lanka. The park consists of mixed evergreen forest and scrub areas and is home to Sri Lanka’s favorites such as sambar deer, leopards, and elephants. However, the central feature of the park is the ancient Minneriya Tank (built in the 3rd century AD by King Mahasena).

Day 10 | Habarana to Kalpitiya (B, D)

Surrounding Sigiriya Rock Fortress is a designated forest reserve and is a very good birding destination. Sigiriya sanctuary is a well-protected area as it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, waterways and thick canopied forests make it a Heaven for birds. You will be accompanied by our expert bird-watching naturalist for the birding trip in Sigiriya Sanctuary in the morning.

Proceed to Kalpitiya.

Day 11 | Dolphin Watching Tour in Kalpitiya (B, D)

Watching the delightful dolphins swimming alongside and diving under your boat, riding waves in perfect synchronization, and twirling and leaping out of the water in a joyous display, is a magnificent experience and one that will be cherished for years to come.

Evening bird watching in Anawilundawa Wetland

What makes Anawilundawa so special is the fact that it sits at a point where three very distinct ecosystems collide. Bordering the coast, Anawilundawa is also flanked by mangroves and freshwater lakes. This results in a huge diversity of resident and migratory species of animals and birds. Indeed, there are over 150 species of birds known to inhabit the sanctuary.

Day 12 | Kalpitiya to Negombo (B, D)

Lagoon trip in the Kalpitiya Lagoon

Your boat ride will take you across the pristine waters of the Lagoon in Kalpitiya towards the sand dunes and Salt Pans in a distance. The little fishing villages and local community living on the border of the Lagoon and the stretch between the lagoon and the mighty ocean will let you see the hard work the locals put in to earn their livelihood from the locally available natural resources. From small fishermen to large-scale fishermen share the same space in the lagoon. Shrimp farms which are a booming business in the Lagoon area of Kalpitiya can be observed in a distance.

For the Nature lovers young and old the time spent on the boat will give you a delightful surprise of the Marine Life in the Lagoon. One can have a closer look at the diversity of Flora, Fauna, and birds endemic and common creatures to the area that make the Lagoon their habitat.
